Corporate Headshots
"In our current highly competitive world, the impression of a striking headshot can help you get that job, win that contract or simply get noticed or be remembered.
"A great corporate headshot is one of the most important steps you can take towards making a positive impression. As a portrait photographer I encourage expressions of confidence and approachability.
"I like to give specific direction, explaining why I want their head/nose/chin this way or that during the shoot. We get great results and my clients learn the skill of how to look next time a camera is pointed at them."
The recent trend of researching people online makes a flattering headshot even more essential to the overall impact you hope to create.
Personal Headshots
"I apply similar principles when shooting personal headshots, only with added freedom. I can concentrate on beauty and character without the constraints of corporate identity.
"My job is about people and making them feel better about themselves. I try to capture a true likeness of my client in the most flattering way I can."
"Working as a commercial photographer in the many varied situations and publications I've found myself in, has given me great experience in telling a story with pictures.
A portrait of an individual, a couple or a family is really a small time capsule. Time changes everything and because of that, it is important to make photographs of the most important things in our lives - our families and loved ones.
"I have a very strong commitment to photographing families. I believe it is so important to record the family unit, the relationships between parents and children, siblings and children at different milestones during their life.
"My eldest child tragically died when he was four years old and my camera had broken six months before this. I actually have very few photos of him and none of the last six months of his life. This is why I encourage clients to "do it now - don't wait for their hair to be cut or their teeth to come through".
Strong portraits endure. They stop time, at that moment, forever.
Fine Art
A fine art portfolio is defined by the strength of the photographer's vision and the success of communicating that point of view to others.
"Fine art photography for me is the ultimate challenge. I am never confident that my images are good enough or interesting enough to grace the walls of someone else's home. However, whatever idea I am working on, you can be assured I am passionate and connected to it.
"I am really interested in unconventional images whether this is the content or the process. The challenge for me is to maintain a consistency of vision.
"I have had several exhibitions over the years in Washington DC, Munich, Brisbane and Miles. I try and enter the Waltzing Matilda Photographic competition each year because of my strong connection to the Australian bush.
"Currently I am working on photo montage.
"I think of the photograph as object, unlike most who think of photography as digital. I love the printing process and the ability to produce a beautiful print."
